Posted by Admin | Spirulina Powder | Saturday 31 October 2009 3:31 am

I bought prenatal vitimins, i am not pregnant ( but i did get asked when my baby was due, which i thought was hilarious being that i am 17). Anyways. I have read so many places that it does work and it is healthy for your hair and nails and can make your hair grow faster and make it stronger. Has it worked for you or anyone you know?

they’ve worked for me!
ive been taking them for about a year and it just like gives you so many vitamins that you produce stronger and longer hair and nails.

Why would a Chelated Zinc supplement contain Copper?

Posted by Admin | Spirulina Powder | Saturday 31 October 2009 3:31 am

I bought Chelated Zinc to treat acne and was told Chelated Zinc is most effective and easily absorbed. I recently learned that Copper is an inhibitor that interferes with Zinc…
Can someone please explain this to me?

These are the supplement facts:
Zinc 15mg (as 50% zinc arginate, 25% histidinate & 25% zinc glycinate)
Copper 2mg (as 50% copper lysinate & 50% copper glycinate)

Will this help with acne or should I get regular Zinc?
I appreciate any help!

I just bought a zinc supplement for my brother, and before buying it i was reading in some natural prescription book at the store about zinc. It said that if you are taking too much zinc it can deplete the amount of copper in your body, so its best to take both. Also i read you should start with 50 mg of zinc a day, with 2-5 mg of copper. I hope this is helpful!

“Cooking” – Falafel Yumminess and Green Popcorn

Posted by Admin | Spirulina Powder | Thursday 29 October 2009 1:32 pm

So I’m not REALLY cooking. Well, sort of maybe. Oh, and that’s my sister, Ramana!

Falafel is from Near East. I found that it does NOT need the oil – the first batch was too oily and the rest were great. Just use a non-stick pan and maybe a little PAM.

We ate the falafel (we added 1/4 white onion to the mix) with hummus, tzatziki, tomatoes and red onion. They’re also great with cucumber but the one we had was a little bad so we threw it away. Also great with olives! Many people eat falafel with all of the above plus lettuce in a pita, but I didn’t want the extra calories.

Popcorn is just popped corn (in the video it’s Pop’s Corn by Newman’s Own but you can use any plain, unsalted popcorn). Then add appropriate amounts of:

Flax Seed Oil
Bragg’s Liquid Aminos
Onion Powder
Cayenne Pepper
Powdered Spirulina

Since some people are going to ask about spirulina, here’s a link to lots of info: http://tinyurl.com/2ms2ab

What you really need to know about spirulina is:
** It contains an unusually high amount of protein, between 55% and 77% by dry weight, depending upon the source. It is a complete protein, containing all essential amino acids, though with reduced amounts of methionine, cysteine, and lysine when compared to the proteins of meat, eggs, and milk. It is, however, superior to typical plant protein, such as that from legumes.
** Spirulina is rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), and also provides alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), linoleic acid (LA), stearidonic acid (SDA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and arachidonic acid (AA).
** Spirulina contains vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (nicotinamide), B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folic acid), vitamin C, vitamin D, and vitamin E.
** Spirulina is a rich source of potassium, and also contains calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, sodium, and zinc.

Is it OK to take prenatal vitamins if you are not now and never been pregnant?

Posted by Admin | Spirulina Powder | Wednesday 28 October 2009 8:17 pm

My pregnant friend says they have made her nails and hair stronger. I would like to try them. I don’t plan on getting pregnant for at least 3 years.

Sure, its absolutely okay to take these vitamins even if you aren’t pregnant or planning on being pregnant anytime soon. I have taken regular multi-vitamins and pre-natal vitamins and there is a huge difference between the two. The pre-natals are much better. I’ve also asked the doctor about this and been told to keep taking the pre-natals.

Strength Training Supplement ZMA can it cause Zinc overdos?

Posted by Admin | Spirulina Powder | Wednesday 28 October 2009 8:17 pm

Read online that taking to much zinc can be bad for you, but I want to take ZMA to help me improve my weight lifting goals. So I was wondering if supplementing with ZMA would be bad idea, I eat alot of deli ham, eggs, chicken, spinach, and rice would I be getting to much zinc if I supplemented with ZMA?

ZMA is a waste of money. It doesn’t work.

The only studies ever to have shown ZMA to work were the ones funded by the company who sells ZMA. (Balco Labs). A bit of a conflict of interest there, wouldn’t you say?

which zinc supplement is best for treating acne?

Posted by Admin | Spirulina Powder | Wednesday 28 October 2009 8:17 pm

i’ve heard a mixture of things…first i heard chelated zinc worked best, but then i heard opti-zinc/ zinc monomethionine was best…and now theres zinc picolinate. what really works best? has anyone tried any of these and what were the results? also, what dosage do you take?

i wouldn’t try any of those really.i would rather try the Murad acne supplements.they are only 30.00 dollars for a month.you can buy it online.it supplies you for about a month.you should try it because i am using it right now and i use to have bad acne you can say but now,i have beautiful skin because of those supplements and the 3-step regimen.you can just go www.murad.com and just got to the supplements section and you will find it.and plus it also has zinc in it.but, you shouldn’t take any other vitamins because the supplements have vitamin A and ETC.because,if you take too much vitamin A.it can be toxic.and take 2 supplements morning after a meal so your stomach won’t hurt and then take two more at night right after a meal.
